Gary retired from a 44 year career in drinking water safety. He has served as Chair of the S.C. American Water Works Association (AWWA) and on the national Board of Directors of AWWA. His wife is a periodontist, Dr. Elizabeth Bjornson and the’ve raised their two children, Hannah Visser DVM DACVO and Garret here on Sullivan’s Island. They are members of Stella Maris Church. It has been said that he fishes “way too much” and owns “way too many boats”.
